Attachment 1a and 1b are the first two figures in my Magickal record. They represent my first attempt to make some sense out of the Alchemical Formula for The Philosopher’s Stone, which is: “Out of a man and a woman make a circle; extract the quadrangle; from this extract the triangle. Make a circle and you will have The Philosopher’s Stone.” Both my knowledge base and artistic capability were very crude in 1975 when these figures were drawn. I never did attain to The Philosopher’s Stone.
Attachment 2 is a chronological list of the names and the sizes of the Early Period artwork. (Viewing of the images from this period cannot be accessed from Attachment 2. To do this it is necessary to bring up the items listed as “Early Period”.)
Attachment 3 provides the correspondences between the numbers of the Late Period color pencil artworks appearing below the thumbnails and the notes on the back sides of the artworks which were done for Sketch Diary V (size 8.5”X11”) beginning on 17 August 2002 and ending on 10 November 2005. These notes consist primarily of the “Names” for most of the 68 late period color pencil artworks. The “Names” are given on pages 2 and 3 of Attachment 3. I recommend printing these 2 pages so that they are available as the corresponding artworks are viewed.
Attachment 4 presents thirteen regular charcoal on white paper drawings that are dated from 22 April 1978 to 20 June 1984. The two 1975 “Chicken Scratchings” of Attachments 1a and 1b plus sixteen regular charcoal on white paper drawings in my Magickal record dated from 22 April 1978 to 9 August 1984 were my first attempts at art. These regular charcoal on white paper artworks are referred to as “Very Early Period (Magickal Record Black and White)”.
The artworks in Attachment 4 are a good prelude to my first color pencil artworks which appear in sketch diary I dated: “Started approximately 1 August 1999, finished approximately beginning of 2000.” The 68 Late Period color pencil artworks presented on the website are dated from 10 January 2002 to 10 November 2005. They along with nine Late Period pastels (not on the website) represent the culmination of my evolution as an artist. The Late Period color pencil artworks are: a) 9 artworks in two 11”X14” sketch diaries. The first has a start date of 10 January 2002. The second has a start date of “approximately February 2002”. b) 59 artworks in sketch dairy V, the last of my color pencil artworks, dated from 17 August 2002 until 10 November 2005, this later date being the completion of the last finished color pencil artwork. It is followed by an unfinished color pencil artwork, which is on this website. The reason for including it is because there is at an interesting story behind the reason it is unfinished. This story will be revealed to the person who purchases my entire art collection. The revelation will be given immediately after reception of payment. There are a total of 7 color pencil sketch diaries in my possession. Two are 11”X14” and five are 8”X11”.
The artworks in Attachments 1a, 1b and 4 are from my Magickal Record. For the Attachment 4 artworks, the following comments are pertinent.
- For Figures 45, 58, 73, and 74 there are letters from the Alphabet of the Magi.
- The symbols in figure 72 are from what I call “The Archaic Book of the Dead”. My memory is that the set of 72 symbols came my way thanks to Aleister Crowley’s organization the Ordo Templi Orientis (O.T.O.), and maybe Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers (see Wikipedia) found them in the British museum in London, England. The O.T.O. would know if this is correct or not. I found the set of 12 symbols on the cover of a paperback book that had been left by a prostitute in a dilapidated house a most unusual down and out lady friend of mine temporarily lived in. The names of the Beings corresponding to the set of 72 symbols are in Aleister Crowley’s book “777 And Other Qabalistic Writings of Aleister Crowley”. I am of the unsubstantial opinion that modern astrology evolved from the system presented in figure 72. The O.T.O. would know if this is correct or not. Figure 5 of my Magickal Record has the symbols for the seven planets of this archaic system.
- One of the twelve symbols mentioned in b) appears in Attachment 1a. It is Figure 1 in my Magickal Record.
